Ground Mount Solar
Ground Mount Solar for Properties Without the Roof to Carry It
Wrong pitch. Wrong orientation. Not enough space. When the roof can't do the job, we build the system on the ground.
Ground Mount Solarfor Off-Grid Properties in Regional Victoria
When the roof is shaded, facing the wrong direction or simply can’t fit the solar array your property needs, ground mounting gives us more freedom to position and size the system properly. 100UP designs and installs ground-mounted solar as part of complete off-grid systems across Ballarat and regional Victoria.

Is Ground Mount Right for Your Property?
Ground mount can make sense when your roof limits the size, position or performance of the solar array. We look at shading, available space, array location, cable distance and the complete off-grid design before deciding where the panels should go.
When Ground Mount Makes Sense
Ground Mounting Solar When the Roof Limits the System
Ground mount is worth considering when the roof limits the size, position or practicality of the solar array. We look at the roof, available land, shading, cable distance and how much solar your off-grid system actually needs before recommending where the panels should go.
Shaded or Poorly Positioned Roofs
If trees, buildings or roof orientation reduce the usable solar area, we can assess whether another part of the property gives the array a better solar window.
Not Enough Roof Space
Off-grid systems can need substantial solar capacity, particularly when designed around winter production. Ground mounting gives us another option when the roof simply can’t fit the array required.
Unsuitable or Restricted Roofs
Some roofs aren’t a sensible place for a large solar array because of their structure, roofing material or other constraints. Ground mounting keeps the solar installation independent of the building.
Larger or Expandable Systems
Rural properties often have room to install a larger array than the roof can accommodate. A ground-mounted design can also leave more flexibility if your energy requirements increase later.

Ground Mount Solar, Designed Around your Property
Ground mounting gives us more freedom to put the solar array where it makes the most sense for the off-grid system — rather than being limited by the roof. These projects show how we’ve used ground-mounted arrays across different properties, system sizes and site conditions.
Why These Systems Use Ground Mount
It might be roof space, shading, array size or simply a better location elsewhere on the site. The important part is that the mounting decision comes from the system design — not the other way around.

Ground Mount vs Roof Mount
Ground Mount vs Roof Mount for an Off-Grid System
A ground-mounted array needs to work as part of the complete off-grid system. Location affects shading, cable runs, trenching and how much energy reaches the battery, while slope, ground conditions and site exposure influence the mounting design. That’s why we assess the whole property first. Sometimes the best position is beside the house; sometimes moving the array further away gives us a better solar window and enough room for the system the property actually needs.
