Sized for winter

What an everyday system runs in a Ballarat July

A 3-bedroom kit is designed for 4 people, about 25 kWh a day. That is our starting allowance: 5 kWh for the house, plus 5 kWh for each person.

Each kit is sized on July, when solar makes the least. The battery carries the home through two grey days in a row. Check your size with the calculator.

Example only. A grey run in July: the battery carries the home, then refills when the sun comes back.
  • Full occupancy

Sized for everyone the home could hold.

  • Worst-case winters

Solar sized on July, when it makes the least.

  • Two days of battery

Enough storage for two grey days in a row.

  • Redundancy

A second path, so one failed part doesn't mean no power.

Questions

3-bedroom off-grid system questions

It can be tight. A 3-bedroom kit is designed for 4 people and about 25 kWh a day. Each extra person adds about 5 kWh.

For five people, look at our 4-bedroom kits. Or tell us what you run and we’ll check.

The Deye kit has more battery. The Sigenergy kit has more solar. Both pass our Ballarat July check without a generator.

The Deye kit is $61,100 and the Sigenergy kit is $67,200, installed, after rebates. Compare Deye and Sigenergy.

Solar and battery trade off. More panels means you need less battery for grey days. More battery means you can get by with fewer panels.

Both can pass our July check. We pick the mix that suits your site and your budget.

Yes, if your system has capacity for expansion. Extra panels depend on inverter limits. Extra batteries must be compatible.

Learn more about balancing solar and battery expansion. Tell us your plans before installation so we can leave room to grow.

Yes, or at least some backup power source. Our design goal is to avoid routine generator use. Extended grey weather, unusually high consumption or repairs make backup power useful.

We discuss those limits when designing your power supply. Learn what generator-less off-grid design means.
