The most valuable application of solar battery systems is replacing diesel generators with off-grid solar setups or incorporating battery banks into diesel generator-powered systems. Even if there is no space for solar panels, it is still worthwhile to integrate large battery systems into generators, as this can save a substantial amount of fuel and extend the life of the generator. For diesel generators to run efficiently, they need to operate at over 80% of their load capacity, but in reality, generators often run at only 10 to 20% of their capacity most of the time. This results in low power output while still consuming a significant amount of expensive fuel. Integrating a battery system allows the generator to run at full power for short periods solely to charge the batteries, thus operating it in the most efficient way by ramping it up to nearly 100% capacity. By adding even a small amount of solar panels, the system’s efficiency improves enormously, further saving fuel and increasing battery life.
